Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924)

Gabriel Fauré spent much of his career as head of the Paris Conservatory, where he fought successfully to promote the teaching of modal and polytonal music like that of Ravel and Debussy. He retired from teaching in 1920, and published this serene little duo the same year.
